Biblia Reina Valera Restaurada

This edition of the Holy Scriptures is based mainly on the Reina Valera 1909 version, for which it takes the name of the Reina Valera Restored Bible.

The Reina Valera Restored Bible has been revised and corrected according to the most ancient Hebrew and Greek texts, in consultation with the Aramaic texts of the Peshitta and various ancient and modern versions of the Scriptures.

The main purpose of the Reina Valera Restored Bible is to restore the original Sacred Name of the Creator and that of his Son the Messiah.

The other names have been left as they are in the traditional versions.

An exception to this is that in the Reina Valera Restored Bible we have restored the name Yah (Psalm 68:4) in the names of people that end with “ías”, for example, Isaiah, which we have put as Isaiah.

That's because in the Greek Septuagint version the final h of those Hebrew names was replaced by an s; and in those cases we have restored the final h to its proper place.

An outstanding feature in the Reina Valera Restored Bible is that we have always translated the Hebrew word Elohim as "Mighty" when referring to the eternal Father.

When it refers to idols we have rendered it as "deities" or "mighty ones".

We have dispensed with the Spanish word “Dios” for various reasons.

One is because the word "God" has become a cliché that has lost any real meaning in Spanish.

Another reason is that the Hebrew word elokím has several meanings; it is applied in the Hebrew Scriptures to divinities, idols, judges, angels and kings; this makes no sense when using the Spanish word "god."

We have done the same thing with the Greek word theós.

Special care has been taken to preserve the authentic and classic language of the Reina Valera of 1909 but updating a little some words that are no longer used or that are not well understood.

Accordingly, in the Reina Valera Restored Bible we have replaced the "you" of Spain with the "you" of Latin America.

In addition, some minor corrections have been made to the traditional text to bring this edition into line with the best and oldest Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, including the Qumran Isaiah.
